Justin Lord, Director

BIO – JUSTIN LORD
Justin comes from a strong theater background. Having started in New York with Lee Strasberg at his Institute, and then on to studies with Herbert Berghof, and Clay Stevens’ Players Workshop. Justin has created roles in Steve Tesichs' "Division Street" at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles and on Broadway with John Lithgow under the direction of Tom Moore. He has won a Drama-Logue Critics Award for his performance in the late Teddy Wilsons' play "The Book Of The Crazy African". His television work has included guest star roles in such shows as "Strong Medicine" where he is the love interest to Jenifer Lewis, "Family Law", "Passions", "NYPD", "Diagnosis Murder", "St Elsewhere", and many more. On the big screen he was directed by Maya Angelou in "Down In The Delta" with Alfre Woodard and Wesley Snipes, "Critical Mass" with Treat Williams and "Flash Point" with Kris Kristofferson.
As a commercial actor Justin has been the spokesperson for products ranging from hamburgers, sodas, Insurance, automobiles, utilities, clothing.
Following the natural progression from acting to directing, starting with his dedication to theatre, Justin directed Joyce Sylvester's play "Mercedes" at the Billie Holiday Theatre in New York and was nominated for the Vivian Robinson Adelco Award for best director of a drama. He helmed the west coast premiere of Harry Kondoleon's "The Brides", James McClure's "Pvt. Wars" at The Skylight Theatre and "Full Hook Up" by Conrad Bishop and Elizabeth Fuller. He also staged two works of J.D. Hall, "Jubie" at Theater 40 and "Loot" for the Ventura Court Theatre Alliance, Sheri Baily's "Summers In Suffolk" at the Town Street Theatre in Los Angeles, "Is You Is, Or Is You Ain't", by Jamal Williams for the Mojo Ensemble in Los Angeles. Off Broadway Justin directed the revival of Lorraine Hansberry's "The Sign In Sidney Brustein's Window" at the "IRT Theater" in New York. Jocelyn Luckett's "Rupture Runnin' Through Risk, Runnin' To Bliss" for the HBO New Writers in Los Angeles and also the National Black Theater Festival in Winston Salem N.C. where he also mounted Iona Morris' one-woman show "For You" dedicated to her father, Mission Impossible's Gregg Morris. One for new works, he directed several stage readings for First Stage in Los Angeles and the Mark Taper Forums, Black Smiths.
Justin has written and directed three of his original short films. And will soon be in production of his original screenplay "That Other Girl In My Head"
Mr. Lord has written three short films "Kiddnapped" the sudden taking of a young child. "Johnny Crack", The effect of a young man’s death on his friends due to a drug overdose and "Judgement", a documentary style work about the Los Angeles uprising due to the Rodney King incident. Justin's full length screenplay "That Other Girl In My Head" is a love story with a jazz backdrop. Justin will also direct.
Justin, flute, saxophone and keyboards has composed original music for his stage productions and short films. His film credits are, "Eye of The Eagle", "Last Stand at Lang Mie", "Spider" and "Black Belt 2". He has toured Europe with his jazz fusion band "Fallout 1586" performing all original compositions.
Justin's modeling career began in New York and has taken him across the country, Europe and the Islands. He has worked extensively in print and editorial, gracing the pages of such catalogues as Sears, Macy's, J.C. Penny and Robinson May. His national campaign ads have included Levi's, Miller Beer, Johnson and Johnson, Microsoft, United Airlines and numerous cars. Justin's broad range in looks has enabled him to portray various types like businessman, sportsman, parent, technician, mechanic, teacher, musician, and just a good old fun loving guy.
